CM lauds efforts of rescue services

Says facility has been expanded at tehsil leve

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab and Rescue 1122 have been equipped with modern equipment to deal with an eventuality.

In a message issued on Friday, he said that the earthquake of 2005 was the worst calamity and people remain unable to forget that devastation.

The CM said the nation actively played its role to rehabilitate the victims and provided full support to them. It set an example of selflessness and sacrifice while helping people in need, he added.

Rescue 1122 were also appreciated at the international level. The facility had been expanded at tehsil level, while a motorcycle rescue service had been extended to all districts of the province, the Chief Minister added.

The Chief Minister maintained that an effective response mechanism was essential in case of natural calamity while trained human resources play an effective role in disaster management
