Four die after inhaling toxic gas in pickle factory

Owner, his two sons and a worker among deceased

HYDRABAD:

At least four persons lost their lives after inhaling toxic gas emitting from an underground tank of a pickle factory in Nawabshah on Wednesday.

The deceased included two real brothers, their father and a factory worker.

According to B-Section police, the incident occured in Malik Colony. The deceased worker Qasim Khoso fell unconscious after inhaling the gas in the factory. “The owner of the factory Nasir Bhatti rushed for the rescue of the worker but he also fell unconscious after which his two sons followed him one after another,” the SHO Sanaullah Panhwar told.

All the deceased, including Salman Bhatti and Danish Bhatti, were shifted to the Peoples Medical Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead.

The local people told the media that the factory had remained closed since the torrential monsoon rains. It was reopened on Wednesday.

The SSP Amir Saud Magsi said that after visiting the factory he has formed an inquiry committee to probe the incident.
