The Punjab Arts Council (PAC) organised an Islamic Calligraphy exhibition in connection with Ashra Shan-e-Rehmatulil Alameen.
Political Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab, Arooj Raza Sayyami, was the chief guest of the opening ceremony along with Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Human Development Fund, Zafar Haider Jappa.
Addressing the ceremony, Sayyami said, “Writing the Holy Quran is a great blessing from Allah (SWT). He gives the honour of writing the Holy Quran to those who are lucky.” She explained that the purpose of celebrating Ashra Shan-e-Rehmatulil Alameen under the Punjab government was “to convince the West that how much we love Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and that our lives are not complete without the love of him (PBUH).”
The political assistant to the Punjab CM went on to stress the need to follow the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) for success in this world and the hereafter. “Aftab Ahmad Khan has painted the Quranic verses on the canvas in a beautiful style,” she added. The artworks of the presidential award-winning artist Aftab Ahmad Khan (late) have been placed in the exhibition.
Meanwhile, Naheed Manzoor said that during prostration, a person is closest to Allah (SWT). During prostration, a person is in a spiritual state, where a person speaks his heart to Allah (SWT). Looking at today's exhibition, I feel a sense of spirituality. Behind every verse selected for Islamic calligraphy, there is a story.
PAC Director Waqar Ahmad said that calligraphy is one of the oldest arts in the world. “The PAC is taking substantial steps to promote Islamic calligraphy. Islamic calligraphy classes are a link in this chain,” he said.
A large number of people from different walks of life participated in the exhibition. The exhibition will continue till October 5.
