KHUSHAB:

Several administrative posts in Nowshera tehsil of Khushab district are vacant, particularly in the revenue department.

Local source said that in addition the assistant commissioner who was attending a training course, Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar and assistant director if land record had also not been appointed after the transfer of the officials serving in the area.

A farmer, Malik Aman Ullah, said while talking to The Express Tribune that many problems had developed in the revenue department since Nowshera Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Yusuf Chhina left for a six-week departmental course in Lahore on September 19. He said it appeared that no official was currently responsible for enforcing the approved prices of food items in the area.

A local resident, Malik Shahzad Ahmed, said the Punjab government had removed the Tehsildar of Nowshera about four months ago without any replacement. He said the Punjab Revenue Department was losing millions of rupees because the land registration process had come to a halt and especially the visitors to the office from remote areas were facing problems.

The local people and visitors to the revenue office said the government had also transferred the Naib Tehsildar of Nowshera to Mianwali, after which the investigation of several police cases had also been affected in addition to routine work. They said the absence of the ADLR had affected the public access to the record for cases of inheritance and other matters related to personal information.

A former local councilor, Malik Khalid Masood Awan, said the post of Nowshera Tehsil’s deputy district education officer (DEO) female had not been filled during the past several weeks.

A teacher temporarily given the charge of the post has had also left for a month-long training course. Awan said the complaints and applications, including those related to salary, of a number of women teachers remained unaddressed

He said a female teacher who resided in the area or a member of the deputy DEO male’s office staff should be deputed to fulfil the responsibilities till the regular appointment to fill the post.
