At least two suspected militants were killed in the Surjani Town area of Karachi in an alleged shootout with the metropolis' Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD)
According to CTD officials, a raid was conducted in Surjani Town after receiving intelligence regarding the presence of two suspects - said to be affiliated with the militant Islamic State - in the area.
During an exchange of fire, the two were injured and taken into custody. However, both allegedly succumbed to their wounds and were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

Two members of the security forces were also injured in the shootout, and are said to be in critical condition.
According to DIG CTD Asif Ijaz Sheikh, a woman and a girl were taken into protective custody during the raid. He further revealed that one room of the raided residence is still locked and is believed to have explosives inside.
