Pakistani actor Imran Abbas and Bollywood diva Ameesha Patel made headlines previously when the duo was spotted in Bahrain. The “old friends” rekindled their friendship after they went to the same college in the US and have been inseparable ever since.
Following an Instagram live session on strengthening ties between Pakistan and India, later a new video made rounds and captured the duo dancing to the 2002 romantic song Dil Mai Dard Sa Jaga Hai — originally shot by Patel and Bobby Deol.
Rumours of the duo dating were rife and now Patel has addressed the buzz. Speaking to Hindustan Times, the Bollywood actor shared she chuckled at the mention of such reports. “I read them too and had a huge laugh about it. The whole thing is just crazy and full of silliness. I was meeting my buddy after so many years. So, it was just a catch-up,” Patel told the publication.
The Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai actor also spoke about the viral aforementioned video. She later posted the same video on her Instagram, which has apparently sparked dating rumours. “He happens to love that song of mine. It’s his favourite song... We just did an impromptu thing, which was recorded by a friend. It came out so cute, so we posted it. It was not planned,” she further shared.
The Gadar: Ek Prem Katha actor further elaborated, “We have known each other for many years, since the time I studied with him at a university in the US. And I have stayed in touch with most of my friends in Pakistan, who just love India. Abbas belongs to the film industry there, and we have a lot more to talk about.”
Patel concluded that people shouldn’t try to read too much into it. “We met at the event and decided to catch up later, that’s when the video just happened organically."
Earlier this month, the Amanat actor also went live on the photo-sharing app, which was actually Patel’s first live session ever. Talking to their fans across the globe, they promised to do more such joint ventures to improve the ties between the two countries. The latter also shared how she wishes to visit Pakistan "very soon."
