Punjab road crashes claim 16 lives

72% of crashes involved motorcycles

At least 16 people died, whereas 993 were injured in 956 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) across Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Out of this 540 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals. Whereas, 543 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site.

The majority (72%) involved motorcycles.

Further, the analysis showed that 462 drivers, 31 underage drivers, 140 pedestrians, and 407 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes.

The statistics show that 233 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 245 persons placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 78 Gujranwala in with 81 victims and at third Faisalabad with 76 RTCs and 85 victims.

The details further reveal that 993 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 814 males and 195 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 189 were under 18 years of age, 520 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 300 victims were reported above 40 years of age.

According to the data 847 motorcycles, 70 rickshaws, 97 cars, 20 vans, nine buses, 15 trucks and 66 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
