A fire broke out in a warehouse of computer parts on the sixth floor of the Techno City building on Altaf Hussain Hali Road, connected to II Chundrigar Road.
Techno City is a computer and paraphernalia shopping hub housing number of shops and warehouses.
The fire escalated rapidly and filled the fire smoke inside the building, which caused people difficulty in breathing. Reportedly, as soon as the fire broke out, the people inside the building moved to a safe place on a self-help basis.
On receiving the information, fire brigade personnel were called to extinguish the fire. The fire brigade along with five fire tenders, welfare organisation volunteers, and a heavy police contingent reached the spot.
In no time, the fire brigade personnel brought the fire under control, but the valuable equipment and computer parts in the warehouse were destroyed.
In this regard, Chief Fire Officer Ishtiaq Ahmed said that the fire brigade personnel arrived on time and extinguished the fire. He said that the cause of the fire and the damage could not be estimated immediately, but fortunately, no loss of life was reported in the incident.
The police were investigating the incident further.
