PNCA holds art exhibition to mark World Tourism Day

Over 400 photographs and paintings of artists on display

ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) would display an art exhibition comprising paintings and photographs to mark World Tourism Day 2022.

As per reports, as many as 322 photographs and around 100 paintings were submitted by talented artists and photographers across the country. This competition was organised by Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) in collaboration with UNESCO Islamabad, Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), PNCA, and Serena Hotels.

The theme of these competitions revolved around the tourist attractions of Pakistan, its landscapes, culture and life, adventure sports, and flora and fauna. The painting competition was held in two different age categories, their final paintings were also showcased to encourage their emerging talent.

On the other hand, advisor to Prime Minister, Awn Chaudry inaugurated the show and termed the artworks as a great effort by the emerging talent to create awareness among the public regarding the significance of tourism, environment-related issues, and promotion of sustainable and responsible tourism.

Managing Director, PTDC, Aftab ur Rehman Rana, on the occasion said the purpose of this competition was to engage the youth in healthy activities along with educating them on tourism-related activities and to celebrate World Tourism Day.

The exhibition was followed by two day National Conference in which experts and representatives of provincial, federal governments, and related departments discussed topics like removing bottlenecks to promote foreign tourism in Pakistan, recovery of tourism after floods, and the issue of widespread rains mainly in the North, issues, and challenges of mountaineering and trekking tourism in Pakistan.
