Durrani distributes rations to Hindu Panchayat

Acting governor Sindh said that at least 15 lakh tents are needed for the victims

Acting Governor Agha Siraj Khan Durrani has stated that the widespread devastation caused by recent rains and floods in Sindh is a tragedy. We are working to address the people's concerns. We shall not abandon the victims during this trying period, a statement issued by the Sindh governemnmt said on Sunday.

He expressed these views on the occasion of the distribution of rations among the rain victims of Hindu Panchayat in Garhi Yasin. He said that we are helping everyone irrespective of their colour and religion because this is humanity which is also the teaching of Islam. Agha Siraj Durrani further said that all public representatives, including Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, are in the field to help the victims. In contrast, a government representative, MPA or MNA, has reached the victims.

Acting Governor Sindh said that at least 15 lakh tents are needed for the victims adding that the government's attention is on the drainage of flood water from the submerged area. Currently, 2 lakh cusecs of water are going into the river daily through Manchhar Lake. Agha Siraj Khan Durrani said that the cooperation of philanthropists in providing tents, mosquito nets and other relief items is commendable.
