LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said on Sunday that he had always helped the Sharif family but had sided with former prime minister Imran Khan along with his son Moonis Elahi because of PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz’s remarks against him.

Speaking at the 41st anniversary of Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi in Gujrat, he said people had come to know about the reality of the PML-N leader after a recent audio leak related to her. He also criticised the attitude of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Chaudhry Pervazi Elahi said Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah’s biggest fear was facing punishment in the Modet Town case related to murder of innocent people. “I am against false cases but the cases which will now be registered will be based on facts,” he added.

He said no case against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had ended.

"At the next anniversary, you would see more love among the heirs of Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi Shaheed. As you people and everyone wants that we should get united, it is possible that we all get reunited with your prayers. Allah Almighty ordained that when two brothers fight then they should be reunited and their differences should be patched up,” the chief minister said.

“You will see everything getting normal after one or two months," he maintained. The chief minister said a university would be built between Mandi Bahauddin and Gujrat.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister’s Adviser on Information Omar Sarfaraz Cheema terming the issue of prime minister Shehbaz Sharif's alleged audio leak very sensitive, alarming and sad.

He said government of a clan which had business ties with India was a serious threat to the country's security and economic interests.
