PARACHINAR:

Unidentified miscreants attacked the house of a Counter Terrorism Departments (CTD) employee in Upper Kurram in which the grandfather of the policeman was killed.

Police told The Express Tribune that terrorists attacked the residence of CTD official Syed Shujat Hussain in Malana, Kurram tribal district last night.

“They fired at the house in which the elderly man was killed but Shujat survived the attack. The attackers managed to escape after committing the crime taking full advantage of the darkness,” he said.

Kurram tribal district was one of the most volatile districts in the former Fata in the past where dozens of people were killed in suicide attacks and bomb blasts.

In recent years, however, the area was comparatively calm and people were greatly satisfied with the hard earned peace.

Recently, however, armed bands reappeared in the lower Kurram directly threatening the peace of the area.

Last week hundreds of people participated in a peace walk in Sadda area of Kurram. They demanded of the authorities to take steps to improve law and order situation in the district as there were worrisome reports of militants armed patrols in the parts of Lower Kurram.
