
Ferguson was especially pleased with Danny Welbeck, the 20-year-old forward, who scored the opener in the 61st minute.
“We believe in young players, I think the fans appreciate that,” he said. “Danny’s always had great ability. When we loaned him to Sunderland, that’s where he became a man. He’s got a great future.”
Welbeck set up the second goal for Anderson in the 71st minute, with Rooney heading a Ryan Giggs cross to make it six points from United’s opening two matches.
