New twist in case of partying youth’s fall to death

The Judicial Magistrate South while rejecting the challan in the case of the death of a young man who fell from a multi-storey building in Clifton area, ordered the SSP Investigation South to get the case re-investigated by an officer not less than DSP rank.

A hearing was held in front of the Judicial Magistrate South's court regarding whether or not to accept the challan in the case of the death of a young man who fell from a building in Clifton, in the Karachi's city court.

The court remarked that the investigating officer (IO) has not investigated the case properly. The case should be further investigated.

The court remarked that the IO of the case had recorded the statement of the witness Tahir Hussain who stated that he saw the youth falling from the 17th floor of the building in the CCTV camera. But the IO neither took the CCTV footage from the witness nor included his name in the trial's witness list. It is being told that the said residential project is a modern masterpiece project with excellent security arrangements.

The court remarked that, in such a state of the art residential project, the CCTV cameras installed will be covering each and every angle of the building but the IO of the case has only obtained CCTV footage of incoming and outgoing areas. The youth fell from the 17th floor of the building. 'Were there any obstacles or any marks on the body of the youth after falling from the floor' has not been mentioned in the challan.

The police file also does not say anything regarding the condition of the youth after he fell from the building.

In the submitted challan, it was said that six accused have been arrested in the case. It was also stated that, no evidence of drugs has been found in the blood test of the accused.
