Two young men accused of raping and murdering a 10-year-old girl in Mehmoodabad locality of the city has been remanded to police custody for seven days by the Judicial Magistrate South.
The heinous incident took place at a house in Kashmir Colony on Saturday. The case was registered against Zeeshan and another person at Mehmoodabad police station.
Later, the police arrested Zeeshan, 18, who during investigation confessed to raping and strangling the 10-year-old to death.
Zeeshan and his co-accused Shahzeb were presented before the Judicial Magistrate South in the City Courts on Tuesday.
The investigating officer (IO) informed the court that DNA samples of the accused would be collected for confirmation of the crime.
The IO said that the police needed more time to complete investigation.
