KARACHI:

Sindh Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) hatched a heinous conspiracy by allegedly spreading "fake pictures" of relief goods for flood-affected people.

The provincial minister's statement came at a time when many social media accounts shared an image of flour donated by the UK being sold in Sindh. However, soon after the picture went viral, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued a clarification in this regard.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Sharjeel said that the pictures, that went viral over the internet, were tagged to international aid agencies including the United Nations to stop aid to Pakistan

"As a Pakistani and in my personal capacity, I appeal to the federal government, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and all institutions to take strict action against those who are involved in the actions against Pakistan and the flood victims. They should be arrested immediately," he added.

He announced that he will file a petition on the issue in the Sindh High Court in his personal capacity as well.

Shajeel said that the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) also issued a denial that they have received no such assistance, adding that a TV channel had run news that the viral picture is from India.

He asked the entire PTI leadership what sort of politics it was indulging in. "What quarrel does Imran Khan have with the flood victims? This is a conspiracy against the flood-affected innocent people. This action cannot be tolerated at all."

The minister said that a message was given to the entire globe to stop aid to Pakistan and not to help the flood victims. "This evil person is an enemy of institutions, an enemy of justice, an enemy of politicians, and now he has proved himself that he is also an enemy of the flood victims," he added.

Sharjeel said that Imran Khan was doing all this to become the prime minister of the country, adding that the former premier wanted to impose his will everywhere.

"Those who raising their voice against the US conspiracy in Pakistan were now secretly meeting with the US embassy officials and diplomats at Bani Gala," he added.
