Police return stolen vehicles to owners

Most of the recoveries had been made on the identification of the accused

The Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) of the Karachi Police handed over 109 cars and 965 motorcycles, which were stolen or snatched from different neighbourhoods of the city, to their rightful owners at a ceremony organised by SSP AVLC Tariq Nawaz at the Sharifabad office.

Karachi police chief Javed Alam Odho was the chief guest at the event which was also attended by DIG CIA Karim Khan.

While speaking at the ceremony, IGP Odho said that as many as 109 stolen cars, including Vigo, Corolla and Mehran, from Karachi were recovered in other cities of the country and brought back to the metropolitan city. Similarly, 965 stolen motorcycles were also recovered and 3,844 accused arrested. Most of the recoveries had been made on the identification of the accused.

After investigation, the recovered vehicles and motorcycles were handed over to their owners.

The Karachi police chief also said that his force was trying every moment to protect the life and property of people. "This event is also part of these efforts," he added. On the occasion, he announced CC-1 certificates and a cash reward for the AVLC recovery team.

In his speech, DIG CIA Karim Khan said that Karachi is a living city. "We are increasing the number of CCTV cameras with the support of traders. A policeman cannot stand everywhere." He stressed the need for adopting modern ways to check street crimes.
