Police claimed to have arrested the main suspect of the murder of a woman whose body was found stuffed in a gunny bag in New Karachi.
In this regard, Bilal Colony police station SHO Aftab Abbasi said that on August 30, officers found a three-day-old woman's body inside a gunny bag at a garbage dump located in New Karachi Sector 5E.
The body could not be identified immediately and it took some efforts to trace the family of 32-year-old Shumaila Saba. Police registered a case and started an investigation.
Abbasi said that a police informer told them that he has found out that a man, Ali Raza, had extramarital relations with the victim.
Marking Raza as the prime suspect police hauled him to the precinct for questioning, SHO said. Raza and Saba were in a relationship, but Saba was insisting on getting married, Abbasi said quoting investigations.
Eventually, Raza planned to kill her. When they were alone at Raza's home, he shot her in the neck, stuffed her body in a sack and took it the garbage dump.
Given the fact that civic authorities do not lift garbage every day in the city, it took three days for people to find out that there was a human corpse lying in the garbage dump.
Alerted, police opened investigations and traced Raza who is a resident of the same area where the woman's body was found. The SHO said they have recovered the murder weapon from the suspect too.
