The construction work on the state-of-the-art building for the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) regional campus in Attock has been started, said former federal minister Malik Amin Aslam.
Talking to the media after inspecting the campus, Malik said that the building is spread over four kanals of land and the project will cost a total of Rs280 million and around 15,000 students from matric to PhD level will be able to benefit from the institution.
The regional campus will have a state-of-the-art building where a multimedia auditorium, a regional examination center and other facilities will be available to the students, said Malik, adding that the contract has also been awarded for the construction work. “The campus will be inaugurated as soon as the work is completed,” he said.
Malik claimed that their politics revolves around the problems of the people of the constituency and providing better educational facilities is one of their top priorities.
“I have fulfilled all the promises I had made to the people of Attock. After the inauguration of the campus, thousands of students in Attock will be able to avail modern and better facilities at their doorstep.”
Around two years ago, AIOU had promised that it would release funds for the construction of the regional campus in Attock.
The Attock region comprised the district Attock region and it includes six tehsils of Attock, Fateh Jang, Jand, Pindigheb, Hazro and Hasanabdal.
Allama Iqbal Open University Additional Director Zeeshan Khan and other officers were present on this occasion.
