Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan said on Thursday “the imported rulers were running away” after sensing their crushing defeat in the by-elections.
Addressing a large rally in Multan in connection with the campaign for NA 157 by-election, Imran said that in July the PTI won the by-election on 20 seats of Punjab despite the worst rigging by “Mr X, the Election Commission and then Punjab government”.
The PTI chairman told the rally that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and its allies in the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) were running away from the by-elections later this month, because they were scared of their defeat.
“Now, more wickets were to fall on Sunday and on 25th September [by-elections]. I had to give them a 9-0 score despite their rigging,” the PTI chairman said. “Fearing defeat, they took the wickets and run away. Now, they are trying to remove Imran Khan from the match.”
Imran said that he would continue his struggle until Pakistan was “made a truly independent country”. He added that he was ready to talk to everyone but not with the “corrupt imported rulers imposed through foreign conspiracy”.
“We have to free our country from these thieves who stole the country's money and stashed abroad, as we are controlled by these bandits, who make decisions on the orders of their foreign masters,” he added.
He said that the country was making progress during the PTI government’s tenure but it was toppled under a foreign conspiracy. “But we are not going to panic. I am determined that I will restore the honour of the green passport.”
He said that the imported government had trapped Pakistan in a swamp of debt, as there was a storm of inflation in the country, unemployment was increasing, industry was closing down and exports were declining.
“We will not beg. Instead of taking aid from foreign countries, I will ask 10 million Pakistanis [expatriates], who are our assets, to invest in the country. When justice prevails, the overseas Pakistanis will invest in the country,” he said.
Imran said that when he was in power, he was told to take the opposition along and now, when he no longer in the government, “it is being said that I should go and sit in the assembly”. But, he added, he could not sit with Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari.
Addressing the PTI candidate in the by-election, Mehr Bano Qureshi, Imran said, “I have held rallies across the country, but the number of women in the NA 157 rally is commendable.” He asked the people to vote for Qureshi.
Earlier, Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Mehr Bano Qureshi, Faisal Javed, Punjab Health Minister Dr Akhtar Malik and others also addressed the public meeting.
