A case was registered against Pirabad police station SHO Anzaar Alam and other officials for the death of a man police accused of being a drug dealer.
The victim's mother got the case registered at the same precinct under the provisions of murder and Anti-Terrorism Act clauses.
Pirabad police had earlier claimed that they were busy in a search operation in the Baloch Mohalla when an alleged drug dealer, Nadir Magsi, was found with drugs. Police tried to arrest Magsi, but he opened fire. Resultantly, police fire in retaliation and brought down the suspect.
"The whole encounter story is concocted, the cops dragged my son out of his home and shot him in cold blood," Magsi's mother, Shama Begum, told the media as she along with friends and community members blocked the road and burnt tires in the Nusrat Bhutto Colony.
With the DIG West Nasir Aftab reached the spot, held talks with the protestors. After hearing their grievances, DIG Aftab suspended SHO Anzaar Alam and ordered an inquiry against him. Still, the protesters were adamant that a case should be registered against the police party.
Eventually, in the early hours of Wednesday, under public pressure, police registered a case on the complaint of Shama Begum at the Pirabad police station.
SHO Anzaar Alam, ASI Mumtaz Hussain, Mohsin Shamoon, PC Amir, PC Qasim, HC Ghulam Yasin and PC Umir Khan have been named in the case.
It has been said in the case that during the operation, the said police officers had taken Nadir from the house.
