Two arrested for killing woman

ISLAMABAD:

Police arrested two men for killing a woman in Athal village within the limits of Phulgran police station.

According to the police, the married woman was allegedly shot and killed by her brother and husband on Tuesday night. They added that the woman had fled from Islamabad to Lahore to escape the alleged violence at the hands of her family members.

Her husband and brother had traced her in Lahore and had brought her back to her home after assuring her that she would not be subjected to any kind of abuse or violence. She agreed to come back home and as soon as she stepped inside, her husband and brother closed the doors and opened fire on her, killing her on the spot.

The police have registered the case of murder and arrested Atif Iftikhar, husband of the deceased, and her brother Noman on the complaint of her father, who was also allegedly involved in this brutal incident and intended to portray her daughter as mentally unstable.

Both the suspects have been put on a four-day physical remand, they added.
