City police chief orders bike-squads to control street crime

Karachi police chief directed that effective operations must also be taken to prevent drug trafficking in the city

Karachi Police Chief AIG Javed Alam Odho has ordered the police to activate the police motorcycle squad to control the street crime.

He was chairing a high-level meeting of Karachi police held to review the rampant street crime in the port city.

Expressing concern over the spike in incidents of killing and injuring people during muggings, he issued instructions to the officers to control street crime by all means.

According to Karachi police, 100 motorcycles from all the districts will be part of the squad. All the police stations will conduct raids against the SHOs and Investigation Unit Street Criminal.

Karachi police chief directed that effective operations must also be taken to prevent drug trafficking in the city. Odho said he was keeping an eye on the performance of district heads of the SHOs to control street crime and drugs, and warned of strict departmental action in case of any negligence.

The meeting was attended by all zonal DIGs, DIG Investigation and district SSPs.
