PTI chief attacks Sharif family for accumulation of wealth, calls for 'war of justice'

PTI chairman and deposed premier Imran Khan on Saturday warned his political rivals that if he was pushed against the wall, then he could become a “cornered tiger”.

Addressing a rally in Bahawalpur, Imran lashed out at the current government, saying it was not managing the economy and the country was stuck in the quagmire of debt.

The PTI chief claimed that the only way out of this crisis was to conduct clean and transparent elections.

He added that elections were also necessary because economic woes could not be overcome without political stability.

Imran maintained that after the elections, the government that was going to come for five years would bring stability.

He said in the history of the country, there had never been such an increase in inflation in the four months of the current government.

He added electricity was being sold at Rs50 per unit because of the taxes imposed on it.

The ex-premier maintained that the people did not understand whether they should pay electricity bills or their children's fees.

Imran mocked PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz's stance by showing some parts of her statements at the Bahawalpur rally.

“I should put Maryam in the Ehsaas programme. The poor thing cannot eat two meals a day,” he quipped.

Imran claimed that it was found that four big palaces were in the name of Maryam in London.

He told the participants of the rally that this money belonged to them.

The PTI chairman also showed some parts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s statement and then said the Sharif family had made all these assets with corruption.

Imran said until the time when the powerful did not fall under the law, justice could not prevail.

Separately, while addressing a lawyers' convention in Bahawalpur, the PTI chairman said he had been fighting for justice for many years.

He claimed that the “theft” of Rs16 billion by PM Shehbaz and his son Hamza had been caught by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

He added that PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari's “theft” was more than Rs100 billion.

“When the money goes abroad by stealing, investment in the country stops,” he maintained.

He said if the nation would have to liberate Pakistan truly, no country could acquire freedom without justice.

The PTI chief regretted that police raided the houses of his party’s activists in their long march in May this year and registered cases against them.

He added that when his opponents had staged a long march, nobody was booked.

However, he added, during the PTI’s long march, activists and supporters were subjected to shelling.

He claimed that even families were not spared.

Imran said the lawyers community was needed for the war of justice. He added that Pakistan was under the control of a mafia.

“We all have to come together and bring a revolution of justice,” he added.

Pointing out that the great leader Quaid-e-Azam was from the lawyers' community, he asked the legal fraternity to assist him in upholding the rule of law.
