A survey was launched to assess the damage done to historical sites by recent floods and rains in South Punjab.
According to initial reports, the outer walls of Daluram mound and ancient Harappan monuments in Jampur were partially damaged. Some parts of the walls have collapsed at both sites.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Director Punjab Archeology Malik Maqsood said that teams are in the field to assess the damage to historical sites.
A report detailing the damage caused to important shrines and historical sites in Taunsa and Kot Mithan is to be expected on Wednesday.
There are no reports of damage to any important historical sites in South Punjab so far, however part of the modern Harappa boundary wall, built ten to twelve years ago, collapsed and some of the ancient monuments were damaged. Similarly, a portion of the Daluram mound’s outer wall collapsed in Jampur.
