LWMC to look for new landfill sites

Waste management company to invest more resources to improve sanitation

LAHORE:

The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has decided to utilise more resources to provide better sanitation facility to masses.

 The company has announced to select new landfill sites soon for achieving this goal.

 The decision is made during the 129th meeting of the company’s Board of Directors which was held here at the head office on Tuesday.

 The meeting was attended by all board members, including the newly elected directors Abdul Karim Khan, Rizwan Iqtadar, Syed Raisuddin and Safdar Shaheen Pirzada.

 LWMC CEO Rafia Haider gave a detailed briefing to the new board members on the working of the company and the new members had been entrusted with the responsibilities of various committees.

 LWMC Chairman Atif Chaudhry highlighted that the foreign investors are being invited to set up waste-to-energy projects.

 The better solid waste management can only be possible with the implementation of laws in the city, he underscored.

 The board members suggested that the company must be made an authority soon for the implementation of laws.
