LAHORE:

Federal Water Resources Secretary Dr Kazim Niaz and Wapda Chairman Sajjad Ghani visited Mohmand Dam project on Saturday to review the situation in the project area in the wake of unprecedented floods in Swat River.

The federal secretary and the chairman were briefed about the impact of the flood and loss to different components of the project, especially the diversion tunnels, re-regulation ponds and periphery roads on both banks of River Swat in the project area.

Speaking on the occasion, Wapda chairman said that the project management team’s prompt response to such unprecedented floods was commendable as it didn’t just help minimise the impact of the flood but also helped save lives of the engineers and workers at the construction sites.

The team further apprised that the loss and impact will affect the timelines of the project’s completion on which Ghani directed the project management to devise a contingency plan along with consultants and the contractor to overcome possible delays in the completion of the project.
