RAWALPINDI:

A 20-year-old young man on Wednesday committed suicide after hanging himself with a fan at his residence in the Riyaz Chowk area of Morgah police limits.

The victim’s family told the police that Ibrahim Aslam, who had recently tied the knot, was unemployed and suffering from mental agony.

Police collected evidence from the crime scene and recorded the statements of the relatives and registered a case.

Meanwhile, Chauntra police arrested a man for allegedly raping a 14-year-old boy.

According to police, during the PTI rally at Liaquat Bagh on August 21, the boy was playing near the venue, when the accused asked him to accompany him to bring more flags from Chakri Road.

The accused, identified as Muhammad Abbas, took the boy to a nearby forest and sexually assaulted him.

Two passers-by heard the boy's noise and reached the spot and found Abbas sexually abusing him. The accused fled the scene after seeing the two men.

The victim boy narrated his ordeal to the two men who called the police. On the basis of the boy's statement, the police registered a case.

Chauntra Station House Officer Inspector Imran Kazmi said that the accused had been arrested and he would be produced in the court for physical remand.
