KARACHI:

A YouTuber was reportedly taken into custody in Karachi on Monday on charges of 'falsely' accusing the Islamabad Police of 'custodial torture' of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill.

According to Express, a first information report (FIR) was registered against Jameel Farooqui in the Ramna police station in Islamabad, by Magistrate Amil Khan.

The police maintained that Farooqui in his vlog had accused the capital police of inflicting physical and sexual violence on former premier Imran Khan’s chief of staff.

Earlier, the Islamabad Police had indicated that action will be taken against all those making provocative, fabricated and false allegations against the force.

Last week, PTI supremo Imran Khan had claimed that Gill was being sexually abused while in police custody, vowing that he would leave no stone unturned to bring to justice those who were responsible for mentally and physically torturing his aide.

The allegations have been denied by PML-N leaders, including Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, who said in a presser on Sunday that the claims were “made up” by the PTI to divert the public attention from the sedition case against Gill.
