Bulbul-e-Pakistan, Nayyara Noor, passed away in the early hours of Sunday leaving behind an ever-lasting legacy. The celebrated playback singer was 71. Soon after her demise, many took to social media and remembered Noor's brilliant prowess and her ability to connect with the audience.

Among them was Arshad Mahmud, who had worked with the Watan Ki Mitti crooner for several decades. Taking to Twitter, the music composer sang praises for the late singer and shared, "I am deeply sad today on ending of a long association and friendship of almost sixty years with Nayyara Noor."

He added, "I am trying to forget this day. Remember the time we spent together to achieve what we did and the joy of that journey. She added so much value to my ordinary work."

Mahmud, in another tweet, shared, "She [Nayyara Noor] wrote in an autograph book of my very young niece who is now 55 years old and I quote "To live in hearts, we leave behind, it is not to die."

In 2019, Noor made one of the last public appearances at Napa. She had attended the event, with a short but fruitful chat with friend and colleague Mahmud.

“To be honest with you, I was never tempted by material things in life since I was a kid,” Noor had said back then. “I never felt shallow or incomplete without the embellishments and makeovers. I didn’t need anything to make myself look better and I was and am very content with myself,” the hall echoed with applause.

“You should be in sync with who you really are and that is the only way of embracing the divine energy in you,” Noor elaborated. She was of the opinion that the more you force yourself in a certain direction the lesser chances of it to work out. “The moment you subscribe to any kind of pretentiousness or fakeness, that’s the moment you lose it.”
