Sadhay 14 August brings ‘partition’ to life

The play was initiated 10 years ago, depicting the country's most prominent luminaries

The Arts Council of Pakistan on Wednesday held a media evening for the much anticipated play of Anwar Maqsood the Sadhay 14 August.

Intellectual and writer Anwar Maqsood briefed the media persons about the stage play revolving around the events of the end of British colonial rule in the South Asia and emergence of Pakistan and India.

ACP President Muhammad Ahmad Shah, Adnan Siddiqui, Behroz Sabzwari, Dawar Mahmood, Shahzad Dada in addition to prominent cultural personalities and socialites, media representatives were present on the occasion.

Anwar Maqsood said that Hindustan was a big country when it was broken, people raised questions that who was responsible for it, Jinnah or Gandhi. So they were sent to Lahore, Delhi, Kashmir and London to go and find out who is responsible, this case is part of the same theater play. "Watch the play," he said. Theater Director Dawar Mehmood said that the best part of the play was the great acting of Umar Qazi in the role of Quaid-e-Azam and Tanveer Gill in the role of Gandhi. Both actors played their roles well. The play was initiated 10 years ago, depicting the country's most prominent luminaries.
