ISLAMABAD:

The government on Tuesday made currency declaration by all international passengers mandatory, as part of the measures taken to curb money laundering to fulfil the condition of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), according to a notification issued by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The notification came as an FATF team was expected to arrive in Pakistan next month for “on-site” visit to verify steps taken by Islamabad to curb money laundering and terror financing. A successful on-site visit would pave the way for Pakistan getting out of the FATF grey list.

The CAA issued the notification on the instructions of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The notification said that a declaration form would have to be filled and handed over to the airline staff, in which the passenger would show details of domestic and foreign currency.

No international passenger would be able to board the flight or leave the airport without submitting the declaration, it said. The notification added that the passengers would be required to submit the currency declaration form to the customs staff before checking in for the flight.

The authority had issued instructions that currency declaration forms should be made available at booking offices of the airlines. It added that domestic and foreign airlines, pilots and staff had been informed about the details regarding the provisions of the customs declaration form.

J. Raza | 2 years ago | Reply As regard to submitting the currency declaration form at the airport just recently I ve traveled to Dubai so from the entrance gate of the airport building till airline s counter three different officers asked about the currency declaration one before luggage screening two after the screening then after ASF s body search an ANF s officer also wanted to know who am I and where and why I m traveling to Dubai At the airline s counter no body asked about the customs declaration at all. Then immigration checking clearance once again passport checking by a senior ASF officer as well. I ve been to 23 countries multiple times but never ever seen such waste of resources times energy at any airports One can clearly observe that for one job position four jobs positions have been created what a waste of tax money. And the funny part is despite of all these so called securities checking by half a dozens different securities billions of dollars went out of the country right under the runny noses of so called bunch of our security champions. This is an open secret as to how and who have been draining the piles of money out of our country and disgusting truth is those money launderers are sitting in the parliament only. There was another news about money declaration AED 5000 - per visitor at the Dubai s immigration counter as well but no body asked about the cash at Dubai s airport immigration either. Good knows what the hell is going on this country Damn it -
