City police kicked off an 'Aman Caravan' from the Town Hall on Monday in collaboration with the district administration and members of Central Executive Peace Committee to promote interfaith harmony, peace and tolerance among different schools of thought as well as to ensure a peaceful Muharram.
The caravan led by Capital City Police Officer Ghulam Mahmood Dogar and Lahore Commissioner Capt (retd) Muhammad Usman included participants from different schools of thought and members of the peace committee.
It travelled in the city to promote non-violence, religious tolerance and communal harmony.
The caravan left the Town Hall and passed through several areas of the city, including Mall Road, Civil Secretariat, Old Anarkali, Block Sayyedan Islampura, Cantt, Shadman and Wahdat Road.
The participants visited the venues of several majalis and mourning processions and met the religious leaders, licence holders and organisers of the events.
At the launch of the caravan, CCPO Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said, “We want to give a message to anti-peace elements that for peace and integrity we are united without any discrimination of sect, caste and creed."
