The teachers' association of Rawalpindi district staged a protest in Bani Gala, but were prevented from going towards former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s residence.
Afterwards, the protestors staged a sit-in at Imran Khan Chowk, and later postponed it for three days.
Under the leadership of Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) Vice President District Rawalpindi Raja Taimur Akhtar, officials of PTU and government teachers staged a protest outside the Assistant Commissioner's office in Kahuta. They demanded the removal of Chief Officer (CO) Education Azam Kashif and the release of all teachers who were arrested in a protest in Rawalpindi where they had chanted the slogan “CO Azam Kashif Na Manzoor Na Manzoor”.
The protestors stated that, "Until the release of our teachers and the change of CO Rawalpindi, we announce a strike in schools.”
On this occasion, PTU Vice President District Rawalpindi Raja Taimur Akhtar along with others said that during the protest, the police tortured the respected teachers and arrested them, which we strongly condemn.
