PM Shehbaz establishes relief fund for flood victims

ISLAMABAD:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Friday establishing a relief fund for the assistance of flood-affected people, appealing to the citizens, especially the philanthropists, to generously donate to it.

The cash assistance for the flood victims can be deposited in the Prime Minister's Relief Fund 2022 Account No. 'G-12164'.

The PM also urged upon the departments concerned to take measures in advance to cater to the new rain spells in the flood-affected areas.

Alluding to the devastation caused by floods due to unprecedented rains, the PM stated that the destruction in Balochistan has been extraordinary, whilst Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab have suffered immense losses as well.

He added that, “Despite difficult economic situation, the government immediately released Rs5b for the flood victims, as it is important to help the flood affected brothers, sisters and children with the spirit of 'Ansar-i-Madina'”.

The premier again stressed on the need for a joint survey of the federal and provincial governments to assess the damages in the wake of the floods.

The federal government has already declared emergency in the areas ravaged by the floods, whereas the provincial governments have also been asked to declare the affected areas as calamity hit so that relief activities can be further accelerated.
