IHC registrar removes objections on PTI’s resignations plea
The registrar office of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday removed objections on the PTI’s petition challenging the phase-wise acceptance of its MNAs after the former ruling party submitted the required authority letter along with the petition in the court.
The PTI also made the 123 lawmakers who had tendered resignations party in the case.
Earlier, PTI leader Asad Umar had filed a petition in the IHC against National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf over the slow progress in the acceptance of party lawmakers’ resignations.
After the removal of objections, the plea has been marked with a number so that it can be fixed for hearing.
Acting IHC Chief Justice Aamir Farooq will take up the application on Thursday (today).
Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry’s brother Faisal Chaudhry is pleading the case on behalf of the PTI.
The petition had requested the court to direct the Election Commission of Pakistan to de-notify all the 123 lawmakers of the former ruling party who had tendered their resignations.
