ISLAMABAD:

Businessmen have invited all political parties to participate in the “All Parties Conference (APC) on Revival of Economy” being organised on August 6.

The agenda of the conference would be discussion on economic issues and exploring the way forward to revive the economy.

According to Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Muhammad Shakeel Munir, all political parties would be approached to ensure their participation in the APC.

He announced this while speaking at a meeting of all market associations of Islamabad which were called to mobilise the trading community to support the APC on Revival of Economy.

Munir called it a national cause and urged all market associations to extend their cooperation by displaying banners of the APC in markets and shops.

Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists President Afzal Butt said that the trading community was a strong force of civil society that could play a key role in pressurising the political parties to sign a 10-year Charter of Economy to ensure economic stability in the long run.

ICCI Senior Vice President Jamshaid Akhtar Sheikh emphasised that economic stability would determine a better future for Pakistan and all political parties should agree on a national agenda to revive the economy and get rid of debt to improve the economic outlook.

Former ICCI presidents Zubair Ahmed Malik and Muhammad Ejaz Abbasi briefed the meeting participants about the key objectives of the APC and sought their support for the cause.

Market associations, while announcing their support for APC, called it a positive initiative to discuss key issues of the economy and chart the way forward to put Pakistan on the path of sustainable economic growth.
