Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday called upon the international human rights organisations to take notice of life threats to Kashmiri Hurriyet leader Yasin Malik.

"Strongly condemn fascist Modi govt's continuing torture of Kashmiri leader Yasin Malik in Tihar jail forcing him to go on hunger strike," the former premier said in a Twitter post.

Highlighting that Malik's life is in danger, Imran urged the international human rights bodies to take action.

"I call on UNSG, UNHCHR & international human rights organisation to take action against India and save Yasin Malik's life."

Last week, Pakistan strongly condemned India’s move to implicate the Hurriyet leader in two more fictitious cases, which have been crafted around incidents that took place more than 30 years ago, terming it a clear attempt to perpetuate the political victimisation.

Regrettably, the statement had added, Yasin Malik is also being denied the right to personal appearance in the ongoing trial, in complete contravention of legal and democratic norms.

Islamabad had maintained that the inhuman incarceration, sham trials under fabricated cases, the fallacious conviction and the malfeasant attempts at defiling the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiris for their right to self-determination as “terrorism” is nothing but further corroboration of India’s known credentials of being a serial violator of human rights and usurper of the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people.
