My wife won’t sacrifice what my mother had to: Ranbir says Alia will continue working post-pregnancy

Star couple Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor are expecting a baby together and while everyone is elated by the news, a lot of users commented on how Alia should have waited a while since she’s at the peak of her career with back-to-back Bollywood hits and a Hollywood debut. However, her husband is here to have her back and shut all trolls, rather give them a relief, that the Gangubai Kathiawadi actor’s work will not be hindered by her pregnancy or child.

Speaking to BBC Urdu, the father-to-be Ranbir said that his wife will not suffer what her mother had to. “Having a child is a very natural process. It is a gift from God and I understand that the times have changed. Alia will continue to work as hard as she does now in the future as well. There won’t be any obstacle in front of her,” he said.

What worried fans more was a once-tradition in the Kapoor family of daughter-in-laws not working in films after marriage. However, Kareena Kapoor Khan alone broke the tradition as she not only worked after marriage and kids but also made appearances while she was heavily pregnant too. Even today, as a mother of two, she continues to dazzle the audiences with her lead roles in blockbusters.

Following in the footsteps of his elder cousin, Ranbir also looks forward to setting new trends and examples for the upcoming generation of actors. Speaking to the same publication, he shared that he is ready to shoulder the responsibility of taking care of the family and children after marriage because according to him, it is not only the responsibility of women.

“I am very lucky to have Alia Bhatt as my wife. We both respect and love each other very much. Our future is very bright in the coming days. I know a lot of people are saying that Alia is becoming a mother at the peak of her career, although it never crossed Alia's mind that she is so popular,” he said.

The Rockstar actor added that he can even take time off from work to raise his child. “It is not at all that now that Alia is becoming a mother, the importance of her work will decrease, that will never happen. My wife will not have to sacrifice what my mother did,” he concluded.
