599 new Covid cases reported in 24 hours

Highest percentage of Covid cases (36.84%) was recorded in Hyderabad

ISLAMABAD:

The National Institute of Health (NIH) on Thursday reported 599 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours placing the positivity rate at 2.81 per cent.

The new infections were detected after diagnostic testing on 21,315 samples.

In the last 24 hours, three patients died of the virus whereas 170 were stated to be in a critical condition.

The highest percentage of Covid cases (36.84%) was recorded in Hyderabad.

In Lahore the recorded percentage of Covid cases was 5.86, Gilgit 4.47 per cent, Peshawar 2.84 per cent, Karachi 2.87 per cent, Mardan 3.33 per cent, Islamabad 1.88 per cent, Nowshera five per cent, Faisalabad 2.07 per cent and Sargodha 1.14 per cent.

With 599 new infections, the total number of cases reported in the country has risen to 1,548,394 since the pandemic started in 2020.

As per the latest statistics, the active Covid case count in the country has exceeded the 10,000 mark again, hitting 10,004.
