After numerous pandemic induced delays, Ayan Mukherjee’s Brahmastra will finally have its theatrical release on September 9. But before everyone could witness the newlyweds Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor on screens in the mythical film, we’ve got a reason to be more hyped about the second part of the franchise already!
While fans claim to have spotted a glimpse of Shah Rukh Khan in Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’s trailer, some reports even suggested that Deepika Padukone will be making a cameo appearance in the film. Topping it all, Pinkvilla reported that the Padmaavat actor will not just make a cameo appearance in the first part but will also essay the pivotal role of Parvati in the sequel of the film.
Mukherjee however played neutral to the reports. Neither confirming nor denying it, he told Mirchi Plus that he’s absolutely unaware of any such development. Calling it a ‘good suggestion’, he said, “I know nothing about this, Part 2 maybe. It is a good suggestion for Part 2 and maybe you’ll get to see them then.”
However, he wanted to expand on his vision for the franchise. “One thing I want to tell you is that Brahmastra is not really about Lord Shiva. Ranbir Kapoor’s character is just called Shiva. My greatest hero is Shiv Bhagwan. There is a lot of inspiration that I’ve put in my own way into this film and into this character. So there is no role of Parvati in part one, two or three. To some extent, like it says in the dialogue of the movie, Isha (Bhatt) is really Shiva’s Parvati in this trilogy.”
Brahmastra, the first in a three-part sci-fi film franchise, also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna Akkineni.
