The Sindh government has warned against posting hateful content on social media as tensions flared up in several areas of the province following the killing of a youth at a restaurant near Hyderabad bypass earlier this week.
“Anyone who posts fake or hateful content on social media will be arrested. The government cannot allow anyone to harm anyone's life or property,” Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said at press conference on Friday.
Provincial ministers Saeed Ghani, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and PPP MNA Agha Rafiullah were also present on the occasion.
The minister said two accused involved in the killing of Bilal Kaka, who was allegedly killed by a restaurant owner following altercation over food bill, had been arrested while four were at large.
After this incident, as many as 76 miscreants involved in forcing shops to close and violent protest at Karachi’s Sohrab Goth area have been arrested and first information report (FIR) registered against them, Memon added.
Memon said people with sinister agenda were trying to exploit the situation by giving the unfortunate incident an ethnic colour.
He also appreciated the people of the province and media for playing the positive role during the tensions.

Speaking on the occasion, Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani said Sindh is the land of Sufis and killing someone is a crime.
“The people of Sindh and the people of Pakistan cannot afford to be victim of conspiracies.”
According to the FIR, which was registered at Bhitai Nagar police station, Kaka and his four friends were having dinner at Super Salateen Hotel along Hyderabad Bypass and near Wadhu Wah Gate, when an argument sparked with the waiter. The friends approached the owner with the complaint but he allegedly further aggravated the situation which descended into a fight.
Bilal Kaka was fatally attacked with iron barbeque skewers. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Liaquat University Hospital. Kaka’s brother Salam Kaka, who is a security guard, has nominated the owner Haji Shah Sawar and four others in the FIR lodged under Sections 302, 324, 147, 148, 149, 337 (H2) and 109 of Pakistan Penal Code.
