ISLAMABAD:
Hundreds of people held an Alam and Tazia procession on Sunday to observe the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Ali (AS) amid tight security in the federal capital. The procession began from Zainabia Imambargah in G-6 after Zuhr prayers and culminated at the same imambargah in the evening after passing through a designated route.
The participants recited Noha highlighting the life of Hazrat Ali (AS), the fourth Caliph, who was assassinated while offering Fajr prayers on the 21st of Ramazan.
Mounted police, assisted by Rangers officials and Frontier Constabulary surrounded the participants throughout the rally.
The rally passed through Sector G-6, stopping at a few imambargahs on the way, and culminated in the G-6 imambargah.
Special police deployment was made near Lal Masjid (Red Mosque) which was on the route of the rally.
Police officials were also deployed on the rooftops of buildings along the route. The main procession on ‘Yum-e- Ali’ will be held in Rawalpindi on the 21st of Ramazan.
