KARACHI:

Sindh has the potential to create environment friendly green jobs and the policy support needed to promote it.

This was discussed by the experts of various sectors, including NGOs working for youth and women development, textile, energy, and eco-tourism, representatives of UN agencies, academia, and government officials in a stakeholders' conference titled 'Green Job Roadmap for Women and Youth in Sindh'.

Javed Hussain, a consultant of UNDP for the Sindh Youth Policy Support programme, said climate change is the shift in the weather and temperature patterns that the entire world is witnessing.

Human activities cause this shift primarily due to intensive and haphazard use or burning of coal, oil, and gas. He said that the growing adverse impacts of climate change opened several avenues of employment called green jobs.
