Oil tanker knocks down the motorcycle victims were riding

An eight-year-old child, along with her mother and a close relative, died in a road accident in Chak Jhumra on Friday.

Twenty-five-year-old Arman had been taking on his motorcycle his relatives -- Yasmeen, 35, her eight-year-old daughter Areeba and 12-year-old son Saleh -- home after having shopped in a city’s bazaar when a “speeding” oil tanker hit their motorcycle near Nishatabad.

Arman, Yasmeen and Areeba died on the spot while 12-year-old Saleh was critically injured. The DSP of Nishatabad Police Station, Malik Zafar Iqbal, and the SHO of the Millat Town Police Station, Sufiyan Butter, arrived at the scene of the accident, seized the oil tanker and launched raids for the fugitive oil tanker driver.

In May this year, five of a family were killed and two others sustained injuries in a collision between an oil tanker and a motorcycle rickshaw on Samundari Road in Dijkot. According to police, a “speeding” oil tanker hit a motorcycle rickshaw near Samundari Road. The deceased were identified as Ali, Matin, Ruqqiya Bibi, Iman Fatima and Noor Fatima.

The victims, who had been residents of 265 Rab Badi Nagan, died on the spot while the injured, Mohammad Rashid and his son Muqqadas, were rushed to the hospital by the rescue team. A large number of people had gathered on the spot where the bodies of the victims were lying.

Police started searching for the driver of the oil tanker who had escaped after the accident. Also in May, eight of a family had been killed when their car collided head-on with a coaster on the Vehari-Multan Road.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Hameed, 60, his son, Sajjad Hussain, 33, daughter-in-law, Sanam Naz, 27, and granddaughters Sahil Umer, 15, Mashal, 7, and Mishal.
