LOS ANGELES: Robbie Keane marked his Los Angeles Galaxy debut with a goal as his new side defeated San Jose Earthquakes 2-0.

Republic of Ireland international Keane delivered the attacking boost his team was looking for, with two runs at the goal in the first 15 minutes on which he was ruled offside.

Keane nearly scored from inside the penalty area in the 19th minute but his left-footed shot was wide. He broke the deadlock after 21 minutes, collecting David Beckham’s fine pass and rounding the goal-keeper. Mike Magee, who replaced him 18 minutes from time, added the second for the Western conference leaders.
