Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail said on Wednesday that Pakistan was committed to taking all possible measures for removing the bottlenecks in order to significantly augment bilateral trade with Iran.
The minister was talking to Iranian Ambassador Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini, according to a statement issued by the finance ministry.
Miftah said the current trade volume between the two countries was not at the optimal level. He highlighted the deep-rooted cordial and fraternal relations between Pakistan and Iran based on centuries-old religious and cultural affinities.
The Iranian ambassador appreciated Pakistan government’s economic policies, saying the two countries had great potential for extensive collaboration in the energy sector, trade and other areas.
