Shehroze Kashif, a mountaineer from Lahore, on Sunday celebrated completing the mammoth task of summiting three of the highest peaks in the world in 23 days, but at the same time lamented lack of support from the government or private sector of the country.
The young Pakistani mountaineer has said that he was promised one million rupees from the government to sponsor his feat but had only received Rs450,000.
Sitting atop Makalu, the fifth highest mountain, the record-breaking mountaineer announced his achievement in a Twitter post, stating that he was the youngest person to summit the seven highest peaks of the world, all of which are above 8,000 metres.
No one believed, yet i did 3x8000m in 23 days. I was promised Rs.10 lac by govt. & i got Rs.450k only. Pakistanis fall behind due to such lack of support & interest despite proven talent & track record. I might miss Pakistan’s world record due to this behaviour. I did my best 😔 pic.twitter.com/rIp2dJURX6

The two-time Guinness record holder expressed his disappointment stating: “Pakistanis fall behind due to such lack of support and interest despite proven talent and track record. I might miss Pakistan’s world record due to this behaviour. I did my best.”
Kashif said while he received no support from the state he was successful and enjoyed representing his country. He also asked Pakistani citizens for their support.
