Girl student attempts suicide

Varsity spokesman says victim got married 15 days ago

LAHORE:

A BS student, of the Lahore College for Women University, allegedly tried to commit suicide after jumping from the third floor.

*M, a student of the physics department, on Wednesday jumped from the third floor of the Social Sciences Department building of the LCWU.

The Varsity spokesman claimed the girl student allegedly tried to commit suicide.

The injured girl was shifted to the Services Hospital in critical condition and a medical team at the hospital has been formed for her treatment.

The spokesman for the LCWU Naveed Iqbal said M* was enrolled in the BS class of the varsity and the varsity immediately contacted her parents after the incident.

"The girl got married 15 days ago in Hasilpur. She came to the varsity to submit of her thesis project. The LCWU has formed a five-member committee to investigate the matter,” the spokesman said.

The spokesman also said that the girl’s mother informed them that there were some issues with the girl’s marriage and she was mentally disturbed.

The hospital sources said her one leg was fractured and she has been shifted to the ICU of the hospital.
