PESHAWAR:

Newly-elected village chairman and councillors of Khar Bajaur Tehsil staged a sit-in with Civil Colony Khar against the non-provision of funds.

A large number of village chairmen and councillors led by Haji Syed Badshah, the tehsil chairman of Khar tehsil, participated in the sit-in.

Addressing the sit-in, Tehsil Chairman Badshah, Sarir Ahmad Khan, Farmanullah, Haji Anwar Hussain, Nizamuddin, Malik Haji Wazir and Murad Sajid said that more than six months had passed but funds and powers were  not given to them.

The provincial government held local body elections but had not yet formulated any action plan for local body representatives, they added.

Badshah said that so far neither offices nor any monthly honorarium had been issued for the chairman and councillors of these villages.

He gave a seven-day deadline to the provincial government to approve the demands and threatened to stage a sit-in protest in front of the provincial assembly if their demands were not met.
